The Marin County Free Library plans to put another measure on the ballot for the upcoming June election to sustain funding provided by Measure A’s $49 parcel, set to expire on June 30, 2015. Library staff on Tuesday presented findings to the Board of Supervisors from a telephone survey taken last November showing the measure would have sufficient support, with nearly three-quarters of likely June voters favoring renewal, exceeding the two-thirds necessary to pass. Measure A currently funds roughly $2.5 million, or approximately 15 percent, of the library’s annual budget. A significant portion of the funds was used for remodels and improvements at the 10 branches, while the rest went to expanding the collection and maintaining staff. Staff said the funds allowed them to increase total service hours by 12 percent and total materials circulated by 26 percent. While the 2010 measure only funded the library for five years, this time officials are planning to ask for nine years of funding. The proposed measure could also restructure oversight of funds. Last year, a civil grand jury investigation detailed the ineffectiveness of oversight by the library commission, whose members are appointed by supervisors. The board will discuss the ballot measure language later this month
