The Forest Knolls Trailer Court, one of West Marin’s last spots for long-term mobile housing, appears to be for sale, a listing that has drawn the attention of Marin’s Board of Supervisors. At their meeting Tuesday, the supervisors recessed into a closed session to discuss a price and terms of payment to present to the current owners—LBB3, L.L.C., a company registered to Petaluma dairy farmer Rebecca Lepori. “The county has expressed an interest to the property owner, and the property owner has been responsive,” said Liza Crosse, Supervisor Steve Kinsey’s aide. If the sale were to go forward, the county would consider contracting with a community partner to manage the trailer court’s future operations, she added. Located at 6690 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, the trailer park is tucked behind the former roadside service station (where a weekly farm stand now operates) away from the din of cars on the thoroughfare. “The average tenancy here is between 15 and 30 years. There’s not a lot of transients going through,” said Denise Santa Cruz-Bohman, the property manager. “It’s mostly seniors that have lived in the valley for a very long time.” The 20-space lot has been in and out of escrow with various buyers since this spring. Some residents worried they would lose some of the San Geronimo Valley’s scant affordable housing if new owners raised rents or, worse, evicted tenants to redevelop the plot into condos. But county supervisors stepped in, first discussing the property in a closed session in May. Over the summer, they’ve been persisting in negotiations, Ms. Crosse said. “Supervisor Kinsey is very interested in the trailer court remaining part of the community pretty much in the way it always has been,” she said.
