Returning to the stage at Dance Palace this Saturday is master pianist George Winston, who will play at a charitable program called “Summer Show,” with all proceeds donated to the community and cultural center. Having lived and played in Montana, Mississippi and Florida, Mr. Winston offers a variety of styles to his listeners’ ears. “I play three styles, New Orleans R&B piano… stride piano… and third, folk piano, the style that I came up with in 1971 which is influenced and inspired by instrumental R&B and rock, North American folk music, and even more by the sounds of the piano itself,” Mr. Winston said. “My approach is North American and I basically treat the piano as an Afro-American tuned drum, as well as using the natural overtones that the piano has.” A special pre-show dinner featuring farm-to-table foods by West Marin Chef Chuck Edwards will take place at 6 p.m. in the Dance Palace Church Space. Dinner is limited to 60 people, who will also receive premium reserved seating for the concert. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $36 general, $34 senior, or $100 for dinner and reserved seating.
