The human remains discovered near Platform Bridge Road in Tocaloma last month have been identified as a 63-year-old Penngrove woman, and a homicide investigation is underway. Annie Bailly, who was reported missing by her husband on Dec. 7, 2014, was identified through dental records after a skeletal examination by the Marin County Coroner. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, which is now leading the investigation, considers the death a homicide. “Due to the nature the body was left in… it was not a natural death, accident or suicide,” Sgt. Spencer Crum, a spokesman for the office, said. A cause of death has not been released. On Feb. 27, motorists involved in a vehicle collision discovered her body, wrapped in a tarp, on an embankment above Lagunitas Creek. Ms. Bailly had been considered missing since her disappearance was reported two years ago. At the time, her car, keys and purse had been left at her home; she was also estranged from her husband, Kerry Bailly, according to a November article by the Press Democrat. The case has been considered suspicious, with foul play suspected. Sgt. Crum said no suspects have been named, but added the sheriff’s office hasn’t ruled anyone out. According to the Press Democrat, Ms. Bailly was born in New York, had worked as a bookkeeper and had a history of depression. Her birthday was Dec. 9, two days after she was reported missing.
