The last two slide repair projects brought by the 2017 storms are underway—or soon will be—in West Marin. The county Department of Public Works is repairing a slide on Lucas Valley Road a mile from the Nicasio Valley Road intersection and, later this month, will tackle the slide in Samuel P. Taylor State Park. The county anticipates work at both locations, which includes building 90-foot retaining walls and improving drainages, to be completed by the end of October. A press release said environmental permit requirements had delayed the repairs. During construction, traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic lights allowing for single-lane access and flaggers; travelers should expect minor delays. The $1.6 million project will be paid for through the county’s road rehabilitation fund.
