For the first time in decades, the San Geronimo Valley Lions Club’s annual crab feed is cancelled. Their supplier in Oregon told the Lions on Monday that rough weather conditions have prevented them from retrieving their crab pots and they wouldn’t be able to fulfill the order. The crab feed, previously scheduled for this Saturday, Jan. 27, has hauled in up to $12,000 in previous years—money the group would distribute to nonprofits like West Marin Senior Services, the San Geronimo Valley Community Center, Valley Toys and Joys and the valley’s Presbyterian church. Businesses from between Fairfax and Point Reyes would donate items for the raffle and silent or live auctions. Allison Puglisi, the valley Lions secretary, said the event was a success because it was all-you-can-eat and brimmed with community. “It’s crowded, it’s noisy, it’s fun,” she said. “And you sit next to people you don’t know.” Ms. Puglisi said the group is still figuring out how to refund tickets that were sold at Arti Café.
