RESTORATION: Volunteers for the Salmon Protection and Watershed Network spread duff under freshly planted redwood saplings on Monday at their headquarters near Samuel P. Taylor State Park. The organization says it will plant 10,000 of the trees in Marin over the next three years. SPAWN has immediate plans to plant redwoods near the old Rich Readymix Concrete plant and near their offices, including a section of the bank along Lagunitas Creek that once comprised the town of Jewell. The homes in that are, which have stood in disrepair for years, are slated to be torn down over the next few weeks, and SPAWN hopes the trees will help with salmon habitat along the creek.
