Six very edgy and virtuosic female performing artists from across the Bay Area will convene at the Dance Palace this Saturday, Feb. 27 for an 8 p.m. show called “What / Now.” In a mini-fringe-festival program, they will offer solo acts in diverse genres. Meg Anderson is a composer, singer and movement artist who performs multi-track original songs. Claire Peaslee practices physical-theater improvisation and steps into the moment with nothing planned. Rosemary Hannon, a dancer and choreographer, brings her exploration of form and change in a dance called “Formal,” involving a dress. Olivia Corson, the founder and virtuosic performer of a personal improvisational form called Body Tales, offers an extended solo. Karen Penley, a multi-talented off-beat artist, brings her unsettling lyrics and sweet voice to a set of original songs. Catherine Debon is a faltering femme fatale in an excerpt from her solo play that premieres at this year’s San Francisco Diva Fest. Musical preludes will be provided by Point Reyes composer and multi-instrumentalist Joyce Kouffman. Admission is $25 at the door, and refreshment sales will benefit KWMR community radio.
