THE CALIFORNIA CONSERVATION CORPS AND VOLUNTEERS PULLING UP NON NATIVE BLACKBERRY BRAMBLES NEAR THE RANDALL TRAILHEAD IN OLEMA VALLEY

The California Conservation Corps has a Watershed Steward’s Program that will be working in the Point Reyes National Seashore for the next year. A watershed steward works with park fisheries biologists and helps coordinate volunteers for stream restoration projects. In this case, they planted willow whips, and Juncus species plant in the bed of an intermittent stream that runs into Olema Creek. This stabilizes soils from erosion and improves the quality of the water. They also pulled invasive French broom and non-native blackberries. People come here from all over the Bay Area to volunteer and help enhance watersheds for future generations.
