Tomales Elementary School Principal Jane Realon’s resignation was officially accepted on Thursday at a meeting of the Shoreline Unified School District Board of Trustees, ending the employment of the district’s most senior administrator. The trustees unanimously approved a settlement agreement along with her resignation, which board president Jane Healy would not provide at the Light’s request, and released her from all possible legal claims. Jim Patterson, a one-time principal at West Marin, Tomales Elementary and Tomales High Schools, will take over as interim principal. As a retiree, he can only draw a $42,000 salary without cutting into his pension, so he will only work part-time, said Susan Skipp, the district’s chief business official. A yet undisclosed staff member may take over administrative duties at Bodega Bay School. The hiring process for a new principal could begin as soon as January, said Superintendent Tom Stubbs. Mr. Patterson “is very excited about taking on this role, and the staff at the school is just as excited about working with him,” Mr. Stubbs added. “The school is right outside my window. It’s going to be surrounded by enough people that I trust it will be very well attended to this year.”
