Tamalpais Union High School District officials met after press time this week to consider whether to end a small but popular alternative program for juniors. District administrators said trustees were no longer slated to make a final decision about closing Team on Wednesday, when supporters are expected to show en masse in support of the 22-year-old academy that blends traditional academics with outdoor excursions, a community service project and internships. Team came under scrutiny for allocating resources to serve what the district describes as a “predominantly white, high achieving” 24-student class. In response to an outpouring of public support, district administrators have given the board an option to maintain the program.
