The Board of Supervisors is initiating a new tradition to begin a meeting each month with an acoustic song. This week’s Tuesday meeting marked the kick-off with an instrumental guitar piece played by Anthony Lavezzo, a Tamalpais High School senior. “We have an abundance of musical talent in Marin that is well worth showcasing for a few minutes,” said Kathrin Sears, District 3 Supervisor and the board’s new president. The idea came to her after an appearance of a renowned saxophonist at a board meeting about the Housing Element update. “His performance of an impromptu song made us all feel like working together on solutions to a hot topic,” she said. “Music is a wonderful way to start any meeting.” While she had hoped the song would set a positive and welcoming tone, the public still berated her during the open comment portion of the meeting about high-density housing.
