Nearly four decades ago, then-reporter Jill Estroff wrote a story in Sacramento’s weekly Suttertown News about the forced closure of a local gallery after the landlords tripled the rent. The gallery owner, Claudia Chapline, subsequently headed west to open her business in Stinson Beach, where she continues to show art at age 90. This month, Ms. Estroff, now a painter, has a show at Claudia Chapline Gallery in Stinson Beach. “Beach Days” is up until Sunday. Ms. Estroff said Ms. Chapline’s continued artistic practice, and the beach town, served as her inspiration. “In Sacramento I’m landlocked, but I just love the ocean,” she said.
