Twenty-two men in Marin were arrested this week on misdemeanor charges for trying to hire prostitutes at hotels in Novato, San Rafael, Corte Madera and Mill Valley in conjunction with an FBI sting, Operation Cross Country. Nine prostitutes were taken into stations for questioning and, if they had no outstanding warrants, were offered help from nonprofits, including West Marin Advocacy. After the weeklong sweep, 168 children were rescued from sex trafficking nationwide, including six in the Bay Area, and 281 pimps were arrested on state and federal charges, including 13 in the region. — Christopher Peak
