The National Park Service has added one more week to the public comment period, through Nov. 22, for the six proposed alternatives for the general management plan amendment that will regulate the future of ranching and elk management in the Point Reyes National Seashore. Among those who urged an extension were Congressman Jared Huffman, who sent a letter to the seashore’s acting superintendent on Monday. Because focus had turned toward the recent North Bay wildfires, there were still many interested individuals and groups preparing comments, he said. “Additional time to comment on this important topic would be welcomed and would contribute to the robust public participation in the amendment that the National Park Service is seeking… to refine the conceptual range of alternatives,” he appealed.
