Ted Rodden, the longtime sound engineer for Rancho Nicasio, was murdered in his backyard in Strawberry last Wednesday afternoon by his neighbor’s troubled son, 41-year-old Andreas Kreiden, who was found dead with a rifle at his side on the other side of the backyard fence the following day. Mr. Rodden, 61, and his wife, Kaye, played mandolin and guitar in the folk duo Sweet Leaf and had played a benefit concert for the Marin chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness at Rancho last November. “He loved music so much I think he would have done this job for free. Every musician who came here loved this guy,” Rancho owner Bob Brown said.
