The body of a 26-year-old Novato man was found floating in Keys Creek on Monday after an apparent motorcycle accident. According to Andrew Barclay of the California Highway Patrol, the accident is believed to have been speed-related and did not involve another vehicle. Mr. Barclay said that the victim, Justin Olinyk, may have lost control as he was heading north on Highway One and rounding a curve, although Mr. Barclay said, “It wasn’t an overly sharp turn. There were no real strange conditions—the roads weren’t wet, it wasn’t rainy, it wasn’t windy.” A diver with the CHP retrieved Mr. Olinyk’s motorcycle, a black 2009 Suzuki DualSport, from the water. A cause of death has not yet been determined. The investigation into Monday’s accident, which could take months, could include questions about whether Mr. Olinyk’s helmet functioned properly, as well as the victim’s activities in the 24 hours preceding his death.
