A San Francisco man was charged on Wednesday in the disappearance of 16-year-old Bolinas resident Mint Butterfield, the child of two tech founders. Mint was reported missing on April 22 after their mother, Flickr co-founder Caterina Fake, woke up to a note saying they had left with a suitcase. Word spread via social media, and a flurry of Bay Area news reports followed as a weeklong manhunt ensued in San Francisco’s rougher neighborhoods where Mint was believed to be. After six days, they were recovered and returned home. “A heartfelt thanks to all the family, friends, volunteers and strangers who called in tips and made this recovery possible,” read a press release from Ms. Fake and Mint’s father, Stewart Butterfield, co-founder of Flickr and the team messaging app Slack. “We especially want to thank the seasoned law enforcement officers who understand the very real threat of predators who use the allure of drugs to groom teenagers.” Mint was found in a van in the Tenderloin on Saturday evening with 26-year-old Christopher Dizefalo, who is suspected of encouraging Mint to leave home. Mr. Dizefalo was booked in Marin County Jail and charged with child abduction during an arraignment in Marin County Superior Court on Wednesday morning. An arrest warrant was issued for a second suspect.
