Three high school graduation parties, trash collection and beach sweeps in Bolinas, free bus transportation for low-income families to the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito and workshops on safe mountain biking on trails with hikers and horses are some of the projects being supported through discretionary funds Supervisor Steve Kinsey and the rest of the board approved for community service projects at the end of last month. With grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, each supervisor recommends projects to the county administrator they would like to see funded. Mr. Kinsey sponsored projects totaling $43,500, the largest recommended funding this period from the total $88,085 the board approved. Other projects Mr. Kinsey recommended included a film festival on drug and alcohol addiction, an Earth Day event, a support program to help homeless youth find jobs and legal assistance, new tables and chairs for the Canal Alliance, internship opportunities and job training in Marin City and a summer camp for the children of prisoners. The board doles out $300,000 annually for the projects and approved a one-time rollover of a $29,168 balance this year.
