After 75 years, the iconic bridge leading to San Francisco will have its own visitor center. Painted the same shade of orange and spanning over 3,500 square feet, the “bridge pavilion” will house a collection of interpretive displays, gifts and keepsakes, models of the bridge and historic artifacts, including a 12.5-foot test tower designed at Princeton University in 1933, the safety netting used during construction and a financing bond. The newly remodeled Roundhouse Restaurant, which until recently had been used as a makeshift visitor center, will now serve as a departure point for a program of guided tours.
