Virginia Linder, a fiber artist who wore a kaleidoscopic wardrobe of handmade, otherworldly garments, died on May 10 at her home in Inverness Park. She was 86. 

Ms. Linder was best known for her clamorous, irreverent ensembles, most of them of her own making: long layered skirts, petticoats and capes, crocheted collars and belts, leather vests, technicolor coats and singular hats.
