KWMR, Bolinas Community Land Trust and Turtle Island Restoration Network are just a few of the 20 local organizations awarded funds from the new West Marin Fund in its second round of grants. The latest project, which doled out a total of $50,000, encourages youth to become involved in nonprofits through internships and volunteer programs. The radio station is receiving $4,000 for communications and public engagement training for youth, while the restoration network will use its $1,500 grant to coordinate a student scientist internship program. “The West Marin Fund hopes that these grants will teach young people about the critical role nonprofits play in serving the communities we live in,” Board Chair Harriet Moss said in a press release. The fund’s first round of grants supported 27 nonprofits in their efforts to improve fundraising capabilities.
