Organizers of last month’s Far West Fest announced that the event raised nearly $35,000 for local nonprofits. According to officials, funds were raised through a combination of ticket sales, vending and sponsorships, and received support from over 2,000 attendants, volunteers, artists and local businesses. On Tuesday, a check for $3,550 was presented to the West Marin Lion’s Club to be used for the new Point Reyes Teen Center, which is now under construction. The remainder of the funds will be divided among other event beneficiaries, including KWMR Community Radio, Home Base at Love Field, The Loft at the San Geronimo Valley Community Center and the Bo-Stinson Youth Group. An honorary scholarship contribution will also be awarded to an attendee of the Regenerative Design Institute’s Ecology of Leadership Program, in Bolinas.
