The Environmental Action Committee (EAC) of West Marin has appointed Peter Brastow as its first-ever conservation director. Brastow, a graduate of University of California, Los Angeles’ geography Master’s program, will focus on a number of advocacy efforts, including Drakes Estero and its pending lease renewal.
“My experience is a perfect fit,” he said.
Brastow worked for ten years with the National Park Service in San Francisco, where he managed the Crissy Field wetland and dunes restoration and later supervised the environmental preservation of the entire Presidio. He left the park service in 2004 to found Nature in the City, an organization committed to the conservation of and education on San Francisco’s biodiversity.
Though Brastow will work in concert with Executive Director Amy Trainer on advocacy work related to the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Drakes Bay Oyster Company, Trainer will remain the EAC’s lead spokesperson on the issue.
