The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary announced seven vacant seats on its advisory council, which represents the public’s interests in sanctuary matters and provides advice to the sanctuary superintendent, Dan Howard, and has recently been focused on climate change and vessel impacts to sanctuary resources. Candidates will be selected based on expertise and experience in relation to the seat for which they are applying—education, fishing, research, and community-at-large—community and professional affiliations, and knowledge of the protection and management of marine resources. Council members serve on a volunteer basis for three-year terms, and meet four times a year in daytime public sessions in Marin and Sonoma counties. Applications are due December 1. For an application or more information, contact Kaitlin Graiff, advisory council coordinator, by email at [email protected], by phone at (415) 663.0314 ext 105 or by mail at Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary, PO Box 159, Olema, CA, 94950.
