The Coastal Health Alliance’s clinic in Stinson Beach will temporarily close at the end of July because the nonprofit is unable to replace outgoing doctors and nurses. In a notice, the health provider said it had lost two nurse practitioners since May. One doctor will cease working on July 31, and the notice said a “longtime” Point Reyes doctor will retire in September. That’s a significant chunk of its health staff, considering that the health alliance employees 12 primary care providers, two behavioral health providers, two specialists and a dental care director, according to its website. The organization has sought to recruit replacements. But “primary care providers are scarce and competition is fierce,” the notice said. “As a result of our inability to fully staff all sites, we have decided to temporarily close the Stinson Beach clinic effective 7/31/16.” Now the nonprofit will concentrate staff at its bigger clinics in Point Reyes Station and Bolinas, with the hope of finding more providers in the future. “It is our intention to resume services at Stinson Beach as staffing allows,” said the notice, which concluded with a call for a little help: “Please call 415.663.8781 [extension] 312 with any hot leads.” The alliance incorporated the Stinson Beach clinic into the nonprofit in 1992.
