The Tomales Braves (2-2-0) shutout non-league opponent St. Elizabeth 60-0 at its homecoming game last Friday. The Braves gained 378 yards and scored five touchdowns on the ground. The Tomales defense held St. Elizabeth to less than 50 yards, forced a safety and also scored touchdowns on a blown long snap recovered by senior linebacker Justin Kehoe in the end zone, a fumble recovery in the end zone by Kehoe and a 37-yard returned interception by senior safety Lucas McFadden. In addition to his two defensive touchdowns, Kehoe also posted 12 unassisted tackles, four assisted tackles and one sack. Last week Coach Leon Feliciano was named as the North Coast Section’s honor coach for football in 2011. “It’s always something that you kind of secretly hope for,” he said. “It was a total surprise. It’s a huge honor and I’m really happy. I look at that list of coaches and it’s pretty impressive.” Tomales faces off against its first league opponent of the season, Upper Lake, in an away game Saturday.
