Eleven years after Amanda Ross-Mann moved to Bolinas and saw an empty storefront in town, the space is hers. Ms. Ross-Mann, who hosts events at the Mann Family Farm, is also an aesthetician; over the last decade, she has formulated and sold her own botanically based beauty product line, which features organic and ethically sourced ingredients. Now those products, which “used to be in my trundle-bed drawers,” she said, have a storefront. The Amanda Ross Skincare Salon is a bright, airy, two-story space decorated with Mary Siedman’s paintings, adjacent to Bolinas Real Estate. At the heart of the business are her own skincare products—facial masks, body butters, balms and more—but she also stocks items from Éminence and ColorScience, plus yarn and honey from her farm. Ms. Ross-Mann plans to offer cut flowers and other farm goods in the future. “It’s fun to have a storefront,” she said. Behind the retail space, the salon contains a massage room, where Allie Smith and Indigo Molina, both certified massage therapists from Bolinas, provide Swedish and deep-tissue massage, as well as specialized massage for pregnant women. Upstairs, Ms. Ross-Mann offers customized facial treatments, waxing and tinting. She hopes to add a manicurist and a line of her own makeup in the next few years. She said the space will complement her work hosting weddings and other events at her barn: “When I’m planning events for clients I can offer them these services,” she said. A grand opening will take place Saturday, Sept. 3, with food and drink, music and henna tattoos by Schehera Van Dyke. Right now, Ms. Ross-Mann is also offering a promotion: any customer who makes an appointment online for a massage or facial will receive a free travel-size Amanda Ross Skincare product of their choice. Appointments can be made at amandarossskincare.com or by phone at (415) 233.8736. The salon, located at 7 Wharf Road, is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays through Mondays.
