A group of Bolinas artists are raffling their works to raise funds for two families devastated by the typhoon that struck the Philippines last month. Relatives of Jing Ferlinghetti and Anita Henry live in remote villages hit hard by the deadly storm, which killed more than 6,000 people. Judy Molyneux, who is donating a painting, said the Ferlinghettis are like her extended family. The home of Ms. Ferlinghetti’s sister was completely destroyed, and up until recently, she and her children did not even have safe drinking water. Ms. Molyneux knew she had to do something when she saw the tragedy affect someone so close to her heart. Other artists jumped on board with the fundraiser: Ilka Hartmann donated a photograph, Robert Buckenmeyer will give a wooden slab and John Francis has volunteered a painting. Contributions will be sent to the families’ relatives in Manila as cash or supplies that can be delivered to their village. “This is what people should do at Christmas time,” Ms. Molyneux said. The drawing will take place late this month. Raffle tickets start out at $5 for a single entry. The more entries purchased, the lower the price. Tickets are available from Ms. Molyneux at (415) 868.0782 or Ms. Hartmann at (415) 868.0419.
