A local radio programmer is searching for people to participate in a show inspired by the controversy over the future of Drakes Estero and Drakes Bay Oyster Company—but which does not discuss that issue. Susan Santiago describes her show, called Pieces of Peace, not as a debate but rather as a “prototype for the listening audience in exemplifying how dialogue between people can positively assist, as well as affect, those in active conflict, as well as those who need post-conflict healing.” A past dialogue, for example, featured Sim Van der Ryn and Mike Durrie—both Inverness residents relatively well known for supporting and opposing the continuation of shellfish mariculture in the estero, respectively—talking about their childhoods, experiences of nature and sources of creative inspiration. Interlocutors steer clear of the particularly hot-button topic that has divided friends and neighbors with conflicting visions for Point Reyes National Seashore. The next shows are scheduled from 1 to around 1:20 p.m. on Monday, August 19 and at the same time on Monday, Sept. 16 and Monday, Sept. 30. Anyone interested in joining Ms. Santiago can call her at (415) 382.8142.
