The Board of Supervisors next Tuesday will consider awarding a contract to convert the Coast Guard property in Point Reyes Station to affordable housing, and two nonprofits—EAH Housing and the Community Land Trust Association of West Marin—will make their pitch. Each organization will make a five-minute presentation before the board votes. EAH Housing manages over 100 properties in California and Hawaii, including Walnut Place, a senior housing facility, and 13 duplexes in Point Reyes Station. CLAM, which partnered with Eden Housing in its bid to develop the Coast Guard property, owns 20 homes around Tomales Bay and was instrumental in passing legislation that reserves the property for public benefit. A selection committee tasked with making a recommendation to supervisors could not reach a consensus. CLAM has been drumming up community support and is arranging a carpool to the meeting from the Point Reyes Community Presbyterian Church. To tag along, call (415) 663.1005.
