The Station House Café will not close on June 1 as previously announced: owner Sheryl Cahill and the property owners agreed on Wednesday to a new lease that extends through September, with the current of $8,372 reduced by about 80 percent. “The landlords have shown true generosity,” Ms. Cahill told the Light. “It means so much to me and my employees that we have a few extra months to figure things out, and to keep them working.” She said the restaurant is depending on Congress amending the Paycheck Protection Program to allow her more time to spend a forgivable loan. If that happens, she will stay open through Labor Day and then pursue a new location. If not, she may close after July 4, because revenue is not keeping up with costs. She previously said she would close at the end of May because the landlords proposed a $21,000 rent that she could not afford due to rising labor costs and lower customer volume. Her announcement on Facebook, which left out that her rent would be reduced through the summer before the increase, sparked an outpouring of anger toward the landlords, the family of longtime owner Pat Healy. John Hural, Ms. Healy’s stepson, said they offered the short-term and low-cost lease in the interest of repairing that damage and supporting employees. They are working with a broker to find new tenants to operate a restaurant after the Station House moves out.
