Valley residents took in new historical displays at an opening celebration of the new San Geronimo Valley History Museum, located in the east wing of the community center, last Friday. The museum, a project of the historical society, gathers digitized footage, photographs, documents and artifacts like old signage and hosts exhibits that will rotate at least twice a year. “I’m hoping it’s interesting to anyone who lives here and wants to feel more connected to the place,” valley historian Owen Clapp said. The museum covers the valley’s Coast Miwok history, early ranching days and railroad projects, and its never-finished suburban development, which was marked by discriminatory housing covenants. “I’m trying to share information about some of the things that haven’t been shared so much,” Mr. Clapp added. The museum is open during the community center’s business hours.
