A motorcyclist died after trying to pass a car at the Bolinas wye on Saturday, resulting in a fiery crash. Aaron Clayton, a 45-year-old man from San Francisco, was travelling northbound on Shoreline Highway behind an S.U.V. When the car turned left toward to Bolinas, Mr. Clayton tried to pass it on the left, over double-yellow lines and at a high rate of speed. He collided with the side of the car and was ejected from his bike, coming to rest in a small field where a small brush fire ignited. The driver rushed out of his car, pulled the man away from the fire and performed CPR. It’s the third fatality on West Marin roads in the past month. On Sept. 22, a 19-year-old from Pinole died in a solo accident between Point Reyes Station and Marshall when he lost control of his motorcycle on a sweeping turn, and on Sept. 28, a 42-year-old chef from Petaluma died in a head-on collision with a dump truck after his car drifted across the dividing lines on Point Reyes-Petaluma Road.
