Forest Knolls resident Morgan Patton has joined the staff of District 4 Supervisor Dennis Rodoni after seven years at the helm of the Environmental Action Committee of West Marin. Ms. Patton joined the E.A.C. as an intern in 2012 and became its executive director four years later. She started as the lone paid staffer in a one-room office, and she left with five paid staff, four paid interns and an office in the center of town with enough space for public education programs. “It’s hard to leave a job you love, but it was time,” Ms. Patton said. “The organization is in a strong position with robust programs and a dynamic team.” Ms. Patton will replace Rhonda Kutter, who resigned from Mr. Rodoni’s staff last summer. “Morgan brings a wealth of knowledge to our team, and I am pleased to have the opportunity to work with her for District 4 and Marin County,” Mr. Rodoni said. At the E.A.C., Ms. Patton oversaw programs advancing the organization’s core missions: marine conservation, wildlife protection, land use planning and climate action. Ms. Patton, a mother of three and a fifth-generation Marin resident, said she spent much of her childhood with her family and cousins in Bolinas, the site of one of her proudest accomplishments: establishing a docent program at Duxbury Reef. The program has some 20 volunteers who educate the many visitors to the protected marine area—one of the largest shale reefs in North America. “During her tenure, Morgan has expanded E.A.C.’s reach manyfold,” said Bridger Mitchell, the organization’s board president. “She successfully guided the staff during the challenging Covid-19 pandemic years and maintained E.A.C.’s fiscal health.” Ms. Patton began her new job on Sept. 18. As one of two aides to Mr. Rodoni, she will offer support with communications, policy writing and outreach to constituents. “I’m looking forward to working on broader community issues and challenges,” she said. “It’s nice to be able to continue in public service and give back in a different way.” Ms. Patton said she is still hashing out the division of responsibilities with Mr. Rodoni’s other aide, Fernando Barreto, who keeps regular office hours in Point Reyes Station.
