A 21-year-old ranch hand living in Point Reyes Station was charged last week with possessing child pornography. Dailyn Gutierrez was arrested on Feb. 26 in San Rafael after the sheriff’s office received an online tip. Following his arrest, detectives served a search warrant at his home. “A preliminary investigation into his personal electronic devices revealed thousands of images and videos depicting obscene matter of minors,” a press release from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said. “There is no indication that any of the images are victims from Marin.” Mr. Gutierrez was released from Marin County Jail on $10,000 bail, and he will enter a plea in court this Friday. The report came from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s cyber tip line. The child pornography arrest is the second the sheriff’s office has announced in West Marin this year; following another report from the cyber tip line, John deLorimier, a former assistant football coach at Mount Tamalpais High School who lives in Bolinas, was arrested on Jan. 10 on the same charge. He has since been released from jail and will appear in court on March 11 to set a preliminary hearing. Nationwide, reports of online photos and videos of child sexual abuse have skyrocketed: nearly 70 million images and videos were reported in 2019 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, up from 1 million in 2014 and 10 million in 2017.
