You may soon have another place to order a cocktail in Stinson Beach: the Parkside Cafe is applying for a general liquor license. Two other establishments in town, the Sand Dollar and the Breakers Cafe, already have full bars, but the Parkside only sells beer and wine. “We’ve owned the place 20 years, and we’re just trying to get it up to date,” owner John Gilbert said. Mr. Gilbert said the owner of a competing business in town had protested his liquor license and was likely to appeal the zoning permit, but he said he doesn’t want to make a splash. “You won’t even notice a difference,” he said. “Your fake margarita’s just going to be made into a real margarita now.” The cafe must also amend its county zoning permit to include liquor. Planner Megan Alton is reviewing the application.
