Thrifty female shoppers got a new venue in which to buy and sell clothes last week with the opening of Bloom, Point Reyes Station’s only consignment shop. Owner Diane Phillips, who spent much of her childhood on a local ranch, said she wants to promote the values of “reusing and recycling” and hopes customers will “have an experience being in here” even if they do not purchase anything. The shop boasts cream-colored walls, exposed wooden rafters and a skylight, and Ms. Phillips utilized the existing bookshelves—the space was formerly a library and bookstore, and more recently, the headquarters of The West Marin Citizen—to display shoes and accessories. The shop will be open Friday through Monday, during which people are welcome bring in their gently worn clothes for consignment. Profits from clothes will be split evenly between the store and the individual.
