The Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD) announced it will release a draft of its Vegetation Management Plan for watershed lands this Friday. A contract for the preparation of an Environmental Impact Report will appear on the agenda for the district’s August 15 board meeting. The draft vegetation plan has three goals: to protect Marin’s communities, water supply and natural resources from catastrophic fire; to preserve the area’s 900 types of plants and 400 animal species into the future; and to prepare for and adapt to future changes, such as forest disease and climate change. An informational workshop on the draft plan will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11 in the Kreps Conference Room at Redwood High School.
