A Santa Rosa woman was found dead from an apparent suicide near a Bolinas trailhead on May 21, after a two-day search effort. Jade Dashiell, 41, dropped her three sons off at school on the morning of May 20 and was reported missing later in the day. Her S.U.V. was discovered at the Palomarin Trailhead that afternoon; Santa Rosa police said in a statement on Tuesday that a gun was missing from her home and that she could be distressed by “recent life events.” Multiple agencies, including the Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin County Search and Rescue, Santa Rosa police and the U.S. Coast Guard combed the area for hours on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, eventually locating the body among trees near the trailhead. Though the coroner’s office has not released an official cause of death at press time, they say no foul play is suspected. Comments to her online obituary wrote that she was a loving mother to her three boys and had a contagious smile and vibrant personality. One picture posted to her Facebook page on Mother’s Day weekend shows Ms. Dashiell spending the day with her kids at a beach, happily posing among rock outcroppings; in another photo, she smiles wide, her arms wrapped around her three young boys.
