Homeowners hoping to provide more housing units in West Marin have a chance to ease the financial burden of septic upgrades. For one more week, Marin is accepting applications for free septic testing and design services through a pilot program meant to streamline the creation of second units. Those who qualify will get funds to pay for normally expensive wastewater engineering consultants. (The county already waives permitting and building fees for accessory dwelling units.) Similar grants went to five ADUs last summer, and this round of funding will cover five to six more; it will also be eligible for onsite wastewater treatment designs for two multi-family housing projects in West Marin. The application period closes on June 17. For information, email [email protected].
