A San Rafael filmmaker has been charged with one count of burglary of a Terrace Avenue home in Bolinas on March 7. David Margoliash, who was arrested that day for charges stemming from an altercation in San Rafael, will have a first hearing on April 12 in Marin Superior Court.
“As he was in custody, we put the pieces in place, with houses broken into, and charged him with the burglaries,” said Sergeant Erik Richardson with the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office believes Mr. Margoliash, who faces 10 charges, six of which are felonies, including for attempting to buy a firearm while under a restraining order, may be connected to three additional break-ins in Bolinas. His bail is set at $120,000.
Sgt. Richardson said the arrest was made thanks to cooperation with the public. Residents had reported a suspicious-looking vehicle and individual in the area and, after a “neighborhood canvas we did, that same grey Honda and [Mr. Margoliash’s] description came up multiple times with neighbors we talked to,” Sgt. Richardson said.
The sheriff’s office has no suspects at this time for three burglaries reported in the San Geronimo Valley in late March.
