A contentious battle for spots on the Lagunitas School District Board of Trustees drew to a close Tuesday evening, with Denise Santa Cruz-Bohman and Richard C. Sloan emerging as clear winners with 42.68 percent and 40.50 percent of the 1,373 votes respectively. Woodacre parent and candidate Robert Ovetz, who filed a formal complaint against Sloan alleging that he had exceeded the campaign finance limit, lost with only 16.24 percent of the vote. In the Nicasio School District board race, Holly McArthur defeated candidate Kent H. Grady with 65 votes to his 54. The Inverness Public Utility District passed Measure H, which will reserve all Inverness property taxes for use within the town instead of other parts of Marin County, with 96.34 percent voting yes.
