The faux military plane that landed on Limantour Beach the day after Christmas was removed last week, and an investigation is underway. A skid steer carried it above the pedestrian bridge, and a trailer towed it to an airfield; aircraft insurance paid for the removal. The pilot, Las Vegas resident Luis Jones, said he landed on the beach because a sensor told him the oil pump was broken, but multiple beachgoers on the scene said Mr. Jones told them he landed intentionally. “Potential charges, if any, are pending results of the investigation,” said Christine Beekman, the public information officer for the Point Reyes National Seashore. Landing an aircraft in a national park is prohibited except when the pilot is forced to land due to an emergency.
