A home in Olema burned down early in the early morning on March 26, displacing the owner and killing two dogs. Fire crews from Marin County and volunteers from Inverness, Bolinas and Stinson Beach responded to reports of a structure fire at 1:45 a.m. The house was already engulfed when the first engine arrived, and crews spent hours extinguishing the blaze. The owner was not home, but four dogs were and only two escaped. The house was not under construction, as reported by the Marin Independent Journal.

County fire battalion chief Graham Goneman said that had the fire started later in the year, bamboo and other vegetation near the house could have easily spread flames to a larger area, and he reminded people to clear defensible space around their homes.
