Greenbridge Gas & Auto, the only gas station along Highway 1 from Bolinas to Bodega Bay, is changing ownership next month. Redwood Oil, a California company that owns 23 stations from Cotati to the Oregon border, has purchased the company and the property, which includes a nearly 6,000-square-foot building that houses four businesses and three residential units.
Kentfield resident and president of Redwood Oil Julie Van Alyea said residents of Point Reyes Station can expect “business as usual.”
There are no plans to change rental agreements for any of the tenants and the only changes planned for the gas station are a number of minor upgrades.
The station’s three current employees will all keep their jobs.
Ms. Van Alyea said there has been some interest in expanding the convenience store and that she will not reopen the garage, which closed last summer.
Though Redwood Oil is affiliated with Chevron, the company plans to use unbranded gas for its location in Point Reyes. “I felt that, knowing the community as I do, the Chevron brand was not going to be a draw,” she said.
Redwood Oil also operates a Mexican restaurant, called the Aztec Grill, at the majority of its gas stations, but Ms. Van Alyea emphasized that she wanted to get to know the community and its needs and that a restaurant was unlikely.
The gas station’s current owner, Mark Reano, declined to disclose the sale price or comment this week. His last day at the store is next Friday, when the changeover in ownership occurs.
