Audubon Canyon Ranch announced last week the creation of a new endowment to provide financial support for the organization’s conservation work on Tomales Bay and its watershed. The Fund for Scientific Research and Protection of the Natural Resources of Tomales Bay was established anonymously in the memory of an anonymous Marin County resident with an interest in natural resources, especially that of the California herring fishery. “For 50 years, [Audubon Canyon Ranch] has been committed to preserving biodiversity and protecting endangered and threatened species in Tomales Bay and beyond,” said Scott Feierabend, the group’s executive director. Audubon Canyon Ranch consists of three sanctuaries and research centers, the Marin Griffin Preserve on Bolinas Lagoon, the Cypress Grove Research Center on Tomales Bay and the Bouverie Preserve in Glen Ellen’s Valley of the Moon, in Sonoma County.
