Point Reyes National Seashore Superintendent Cicely Muldoon has declined an invitation to attend a community meeting this Sunday to discuss the findings of a recent park study on oyster cultivation and harbor seal counts in Drakes Estero. The meeting, sponsored by the Alliance for Local Sustainable Agriculture and the Tomales Bay Association, will feature Corey Goodman, the leading critic of the study. It precedes a series of three open houses—including one at the Dance Palace Community Center on Tuesday, October 18—hosted by the park service on the draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Drakes Bay Oyster Company. Those meetings will not include opportunities for group discussion. Muldoon, in her written decline, said the Seashore will encourage the Marine Mammal Commission, which is conducting the review, to hold a public meeting once it releases its findings.
