A 45-year-old man fell to his death while fishing from a bluff near Rodeo Beach at the Marin Headlands last Saturday. Bernin Alarcon Figueroa of San Pablo fell 30 to 40 feet into high-tide waters at around 3:15 p.m. His friend, who was not carrying a cell phone, contacted a park visitor, who called authorities. The Marin County Sheriff’s Office, Coast Guard and National Park Service rangers all responded. “There’s a pretty fast response our there,” said George Durgerian, a ranger with Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Coroners’s reported that there have been two accidental deaths on the bluffs above Rodeo Beach in the last two years.
