Homeowners and small business owners who suffered financial losses in the recent storms might be eligible for low-interest federal loans. The United States Small Business Administration recently added Marin to its list of disaster-stricken counties. If their property was damaged by storms between Dec. 27 and Jan. 31, homeowners can apply for loans of up to $200,000 and small businesses might be eligible for loans of up to $2 million. Renters can qualify for assistance of up to $40,000. The deadline to apply for residential property damage assistance is May 8. Businesses that suffered operating losses due to the storms—even if their property was not damaged—have until Dec. 7 to apply.
